Antwon Haynie, 25, and DaQuan Oden, 22, both of Southeast DC, are facing charges after members of the Metropolitan Police Department used a helicopter to track down the fleeing suspects.
Shortly before 10:10 p.m. on Thursday night, police say that the two men approached their victims in the 2400 block of 17th Street NW while they were sitting in a vehicle.
They took out guns and stole the victims car, which they then fled in.
Police say that the MPD helicopter was able to track down the stolen vehicle on I-695, at which point Oden and Haynie bailed and attempted to flee on foot.
They were quickly taken into custody and a weapon was recovered by responding officers.
Both men were charged with:
- Armed carjacking;
- Unlawful possession of a firearm;
- Carrying a pistol without a license.
